Inspired by our personal journey in seeking quality in-home care for our loved ones, 2nd Family is a senior home care franchise that stands apart from the rest. It begins with our Grandma Guarantee ®: if we wouldn’t trust our caregivers with our own grandmother, we won’t send them to care for our clients.
2nd Family Home Care Franchise Opportunity
2nd Family officially launched in 2012 when founders Chad Tracey and Josh Markland secured their first client. However, the journey began earlier, as these two cousins, along with other family members, sought the right care for their aging grandmother—one of the most significant decisions they would ever face.
During the challenging and often frustrating search for suitable options, Chad and Josh quickly recognized that the available quality of care fell short of their family’s expectations. It became clear to them that there was a gap between the care options in the market and what they envisioned for their grandmother. Determined to bridge this gap, they took it upon themselves to address the challenge.
Today, after developing and refining their vision for an in-home care and support services business model, they have demonstrated that it is indeed possible to consistently deliver the highest level of care and that making a positive impact on people’s lives is profoundly rewarding.
The Difference is in the Details
The 2nd Family’s commitment to quality care begins with the hiring process. Our screening process ensures that we select caregivers who genuinely care and can foster strong relationships with their clients. Our home office in Eldersburg, MD, is staffed entirely by certified nursing assistants who are compassionate, selfless, and dedicated to helping those in need. Franchise owners can utilize this hiring model to build their local businesses effectively.
On the administrative and technological front, we have established a streamlined and organized business model. At 2nd Family, we use advanced technology to manage care plans, scheduling, billing, payroll, and communication between our professionally trained staff and clients. This ensures unmatched access and coordination of care, delivering comfort, confidence, and flexibility. These tools are available to in-home care franchise owners who join 2nd Family, empowering them to create a meaningful and effective business.
Our Grandma Guarantee®
The basis of everything we do at 2nd Family is simple: If we wouldn’t trust a caregiver to care for our grandmother, we won’t send them to our clients’ homes.
Why Franchise With 2nd Family?
- 2nd Family University – Our digital curriculum covers all aspects of the senior care business. New franchise owners take courses geared toward executives. As the business expands, new staff will require training. Register each new staff member in 2nd Family University based on the job title. Your employee will then receive job-specific training covering both the “how” and the “why” of their new role. You can quickly and easily cross-train employees as well, adding valuable skills to work in a variety of roles.
- Franchise Support Portal – Our franchise support program is uniquely effective. You’ll start by working with a licensing consultant to navigate the licensing process in your home state. Then, use our online support portal for Pre-Opening training courses to prepare for launching your senior care business. Once open, access our Tutorial Video Catalog for quick “how-to” solutions whenever you need help.
- 2nd Family App – Why are many home care companies still lagging behind in technology? At 2nd Family, we believe technology can enhance caregiver performance and improve client experiences. Our flagship product, the 2nd Family app, provides exceptional access for clients, caregivers, and referral partners.
- RN Care Coordinator – At 2nd Family, we take a distinctive approach to senior care. Instead of just matching caregivers with clients, we use a managed care model. Each client is assigned a registered nurse as a Nurse Care Coordinator, who oversees care and serves as the family’s main contact. This approach enables our franchise owners to thrive without prior healthcare experience.

Our Ideal Candidate
We seek franchise owners committed to actively engaging in daily operations. Ideal candidates should have experience in sales and marketing, as well as staff management. While prior healthcare experience is beneficial, it’s not required. Existing community relationships for referrals are a plus. Franchise owners must also uphold our high standards, including our “Grandma Guarantee,” which emphasizes ethical practices and dedication to clients and their families.
